Lipton Rainforest Alliance Certified™ Tea
Unilever is the largest buyer of tea in the world, purchasing approximately 12% of the world’s supply of black tea. In 2007, Lipton® set out to lead the industry by committing to purchase all of its tea from sustainable, ethical sources.
Since then, the company has worked closely with the Rainforest Alliance to ensure that all of the estates that supply Lipton tea meet comprehensive standards for protecting wildlife, wild lands, workers' rights and local communities.

Select Lipton® products bearing the Rainforest Alliance Certified™ seal began appearing on store shelves in the U.S. in the spring of 2009, including select bagged tea products, as well as Lipton® PureLeaf ready-to-drink tea. Our goal is to source 100% of the tea for our tea bags globally from Rainforest Alliance Certified estates by 2015.
Further demonstrating our commitment to sustainability, Lipton® will not increase the retail price consumers pay for our tea, regardless of any increase in production costs.
To mark the launch of Rainforest Alliance Certified products in the U.S., Lipton® partnered with National Geographic to create custom content documenting the brand’s journey and commitment to sustainability. The custom content is included in a National Geographic online community at www.nationalgeographic.com/lipton as well as at wwwLiptont.com.
